Nice job Mom! I would appreciate the food- too bad we are so far apart! To anyone reading this, take her up on the recipes. I think we were the only kids spoiled enough to have homemade french bread on a regular basis. We grew up in a home that smelled of freshly baked food. It is unfortunate that I know what good food is because I don’t enjoy the making of food as much as the eating, and if I can have it ready in 20 min. or less and I can keep it in the pantry for 2 weeks before hand, I am golden. I know my Mom’s stomach is turning now, sorry!
I did have the pleasure of seeing my Mom this past month. She was nice enough to stock my freezer with homemade dinners so not only is dinner done, my son and I will be eating well until the food runs out. You’re the best Mom!
By the way, I like my tuna and Pasta Roni combo. Perhaps a little too Chef Boyardee though, I will admit.
I have one big complaint….. You write about all this good food and have yet to invite me over for a taste test. I don’t mind driving over for a midnight snack! Scout needs to watch his weight so you might want to consider a new receipe tester. You have my number. Till then Peri(my springer spaniel) and I await the next blog or receipe and hope that we are included. I think Peri is tired of the lack luster meals that are made at my place.
PS. Peri loved the beef stew you fed her the other night and has given me guilty looks since because all I offer her with her kibble is cheese.
Well, my lack of computer literacy shows, I left a comment on Scout’s tab, not Kim’s.
I am not Scout’s little sister, I am Kim’s little sister,
all 47 yrs. of me.
I meant what I said about “cooking/food obsession” thing.
We were raised in a home that you did “lived to eat, not eat to live.” Our parents don’t watch network television, they watch the food channel. My dad flat out misses Julia Childs, probably as much as Jaques Pepin does.
I remember a time when I was 24 yrs. old.
My parents went to St. Martens for three weeks.
They asked me to join them for about a week, which since they were treating, I accepted.
One morning we went to a small French bakery, probably the best croissants you will ever have in your life.
I still could remember enough of my five years of french in school to carry on a conversation with the owner/baker, who
knew not one word of English. By the end of this visit,
our Mom had me schedule a week’s worth of baking classes with the owner at 5am every day. By the end of the week,
our Mom had mastered the art, she could produce layer after layer of light, buttery, flaky, tastes of heaven.
She had a great vacation!!
One of my favorite recipes came from St.Martens, too.
Pizza Langouste!
Kim, I will send that one to you!
Love your site,
Love,
Heidi
